Irish Date Night

Ok, I didn’t go to Ireland like some folks I know, but we did cross the state line!! 😉

My beautiful bride and I decided to take advantage of a car repair trip to Ontario, Oregon, (where we bought our new-to-us car) and have a date night (baby-sitting grandparents are awesome!). The restaurant of choice was Mackey’s Steakhouse & Pub as we both enjoy Celtic themed items.

The great thing about Machey’s is the atmosphere – it was dialed with the perfect blend of Celtic decor and down-home-living. For example, the restaurant is set up with several medium to large size rooms where you can enjoy your meal without having the echo noise of a huge open facilities. They also have an outside patio where they have living music during the summer months as well as a downstairs pub with pool table.

Oh, and they had some great Celtic music playing throughout the evening – a HUGE improvement over the so-called-Irish-pub-in-Boise-which-has-no-atmosphere.

The service was incredible and very, very fast (almost too fast in fact!). We arrived a tad before 6 pm and was finished eating by 6:40 pm – and no we didn’t rush, the food just showed up almost immediately after we ordered.

After supper we wondered down to the pub and played a few games of pool (pool-shark-Emily soundly beat me both games!).

Sadly we ran out of quarters and was on the road home by 7:15 pm – apparently we are old fuddy duddies. =?
