When God Takes Over…

I attend an awesome church!

The presence of the Lord was so strong yesterday morning after worship we just sat there – basking in His presence.

Being up front, I had the pleasure of watching the dancing hand of the Spirit as He touched His people: a tear in one place, a smile in another, a tense face relaxing as a wave of peace washing over it, heads bowed in a calm reverence….

Bring up front also made me very, very nervous as I wasn’t sure what to do…God was breaking into our routine and changing all of our plans.

“Oh Lord, what are you doing?  How can I join with You?”

Slowly as time ticked by, He told me to open up the microphone and allow people to share with the community what He was or had been doing in their lives that week. So I did it – and it was powerful!

We were blessed by hearing the stories about the King of Kings working in the lives of His people. We were encouraged by the Scriptures as the Author of Life guided our eyes and fingers through the Bible.

Then the prayer requests began to come forth – bubbling up from within a desire to met the Living God – the God of mercy and healing – the God who seeks to restore our lives and bring wholeness to our lives.

Gathering around each other, we prayed as a community – each broken before the Lord – each seeking to hear His voice for each other – each receiving the grace poured out from heaven.

Ah, the fragrance of faith, hope and love – the fragrance of the Holy One alighting upon His people – the fragrance of God Almighty dwelling among His people!

45 minutes of basking in the Spirit’s presence – after worship and before the sermon – meaning that our normal Sunday morning time slot was over…yet no one wanted to leave – they wanted more – so we all stayed and open our hearts up to the message of Genesis one – the message that God is King over all.

“For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” – 1 Corinthians 8:5-6

  1. This seems to have been a major theme this week! Sunday morning at our church, it was about us worshiping the one, true God and Sunday night was about His Kingship!
