A few days ago I was listening to the local Christian AM talk radio station when I heard the strangest thing. Apparently, there is a huge scandal causing rifts among the conservative Christian world. The cause of the rift:

John Piper has invited Rick Warren to speak at the 2010 Desiring God Conference.

Yelp.

It turns out that Warren is too “liberal” for Piper fans [one blog stated that Warren is among the “high priests of a watered down, non-saving message.”]

And here I was thinking that Piper and Warren where on the same side. I mean, they are both conservative Baptist ministers preaching the life-saving grace of God.

I fail to see the controversy.

True, Warren is Southern Baptist and Piper is Reformed Baptist…but come on folks! Get a grip on yourself! They both love Jesus; both major on the majors (i.e. they both preach orthodox Christianity); let us stop the nitpicking and allow the Lord handle the minors.

Sigh… 😕

Christians. They make me want to stick my head into the ground sometimes.
