Wednesday afternoon the Vineyard National Conference moved location: from the Moody Gardens to a school yard a few miles away.
Partnering with Convey of Hope, Vineyard Mercy Ministries set up a huge festival with music, medical ad, hair cuts, prayer, lunch and free groceries. Oh – and huge balloon bouncy things for the kids to play on!
Over 2,000 people came through that afternoon – with 900 or so stopping by the prayer tents. [@more@]
My job – to pray for folks.
Yelp. I got the cool job – under the tent, hidden from the burning sun!
Actually, I got tired of sitting under a tent waiting for folks to come to me – so I got up and wondered around with my prayer partner looking for people to talk too. God was good in that he lead me to a few folks who just need a little bit of prayer.
One of the key moments was talking to a young man who was waiting for his ride next to a pile of groceries. All he needed was someone to listen to him – to tell him that it was ok to be emotional and to want things to “get back to normal.”
Ah – the simplicity of the gospel: lending an ear.
