Come Holy Spirit Come: Part 2

Last Tuesday evening was another special night.

Don Williams, pastor, theologian and man of God, spoke that evening about the empowerment of the Spirit.

Call it want you want – baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowerment of the Spirit, infilling of the Holy Ghost. The fact still remains that we need the Spirit of God to be upon us if we are to actively live this Christian life and fight the battles we are called to fight.

A quick look through history shows that men like Billy Graham, John Wesley, Paul, Peter and many others all had a moment after their conversion in which God powerfully touched their lives. Note however that it is not just a “one time event”. We all “leak” – as such we need to continue to push into God on a daily bases so that we can be continually filled with His Spirit.[@more@]

After his sermon, Don turned the stage over to Steve Nicholson, the Vineyard Church Planter Task Force Director. Looking out over the crowd of folks Steve simply invited the Spirit of the Living God to come.

No music. No hype. Just a simple request to a Loving Father.

And we stood. Just waiting – waiting as the apostles did in the upper room.

Then…then something started to happen. Someone on my right begin to cry. Someone else on my left begin to laugh. The dancing hand of the Father was moving through the crowd touching His children.

Wow. Surprised

What an amazing experience.

Yet – do you want to know the coolest part about the whole evening?

Steve – the guy who invited God to come – he walked off the stage. You see, it wasn’t about him. The whole evening was about God and the empowerment of His people.

We all prayed with each other. We all told stood in amazement as God broken through the emotional, spiritual and physical boundaries and healed His People.

The church was acting like the church. That was the coolest part.
