Sorry Idaho, you may have potatoes and mountains; but Texas has barbecue!!

Off and on throughout the last nine years I would try a local Idaho BBQ joint to try to fill that hollow gap in my soul. Yet, one by one they each failed to fully satisfy… Not that they were ‘bad’ per say… it just that they were KC style barbecue joints that just didn’t have that down-home flavor I grew up with in Texas.

Last year some time my heart jumped when I noticed that someone had started a “Texas Style BBQ” restaurant in the area. Unfortunately I was unable to ‘test’ the said BBQ due to the lack of funds in my pocketbook and the fact that my heart was not ready for another disappointment…

All that changed last night when I final stopped at “Bob’s Texas Style BBQ” (located on State St. between WinCo and Walmart) and ordered their “Cowboy Dinner” for two. Seeing how it contained two ribs, pile of chopped brisket and some pulled pork, I figured it would be perfect way to test the waters and get a taste of all they had to offer.

Oh, and it came with a cup of sweet ice tea – a southern staple!

Driving home was a little tough with the smell of BBQ drifting throughout the car…but I made it with the dinner still in the box – granted the tea cup was a tad low… =?

The first thing I tried was the pulled pork and wow was it good! It had really nice flavor that just sat on your tongue! It had that spicy, salty taste that was just right and not overpowering. Add a little BBQ, and it was perfect!

The ribs were alright. A tad dry but boy did the meat fall off the bone. It also had that smoky flavor that makes Texas BBQ!

By far the best thing about the dinner was the beef brisket. It was chopped up and flavored to perfection! You could eat it without any sauce all day long and be just fine!  😀

The one sad part about the dinner was that side dishes where pretty small considering it was promoted as a two person dinner…. however, we were able to feed the three of us off the dinner with only little help from the refrigerator.

All and all, it looks like piece of Texas have finally journeyed north to be with her long-lost son. 😀

(Now to figure out that pocketbook issue…) 😕
