Dogging Cattle in the Morning

The sounds of cattle echoed across the morning sky as I climbed into my car this morning. Knowing that there are occasional cattle drives in Sweet, I hurriedly pulled out of my driveway and found a spot on the side of the road to watch the cows as they wandered by. It is a wonderful sight to see, the work of nature and God parading down the streets as the farmers bring the cattle to their home for the warmer months. It makes me want to start looking for utah ranches for sale so that I can keep cattle myself – maybe one day!

There were a lot of young calves in the herd as the cows are kept in the lowlands during winter and spring while they give birth. During the summer months, they are pushed north into the highlands pastures, where they are able to roam and feed freely. Sometimes people supplement their natural grazing with some livestock feeders, helping them to keep well fed during the lush summer in case anything happens, and in the winter these feeders are used more often to keep them well.

One of the coolest parts of the drive was watching three or possibly four generations working together as a family unit. You don’t get to see that very often these days, considering everything else going on around the world. The young boys and girls had the biggest smiles – abet, there were a few who still seemed asleep! Still a beautiful sight, and after a few hours they’ll be awake anyway 😀

All and in all, it was a peaceful morning reminding me of the blessings of God.
