Did the Massachusetts health-care work? Are people better off because of the plan? Or worse?
While I try to keep up on whats happening on the national scene, Im not a political junky.. .as such, the only news Ive heard about the Massachusetts health plan is negative. It seems that it has, and is, sucking the life out of the Mass state budget the terror of all its citizens.

I agree that something needs to be done to change the health system in the USA but to make buying health insurance mandatory?! Come on!!
Part of being a FREE nation is the FREEDOM to CHOOSE how to live your life and what you buy. In my mind, passing a state, local or federal law REQUIRING people tobuy insurance is a violation of our personal freedoms. Yes, this even goes for car insurance, which makes me sick! Thankfully you can compare car insurance quotes so that you can keep it as cheap as possible, but I am still adamant it is not fair.
Now, before you stone me, I must mention that I think buying insurance makes sense even if I think its one huge money, grapping racket as there are times when it is handy. Im think of my car wreck a few years back But still, it should be a choice, not a mandatory law. As far as the national health care system personally I feel that ALL insurance companies should be not-for-profit companies. By doing this, you remove the conflict of interest that is now motivating insurance companies NOT to pay out (ie. it is in the insurance companies best interest to keep your money as it improves the bottom line which is oppose of what youre paying them to do..) .
